KiloVault HLX Tips And FAQ
Is it good to insulate the KiloVault battery?
It’s the same with any type of battery. Because batteries warmth up once they charge, if you happen to insulate the box they’re in, it is going to retain the warmth higher and the batteries will keep warmer. But be certain to remove the insulation in the sizzling months, as overheated batteries can have a shorter life.
What is the best operating and storage temperature for the KiloVault?
The optimal temperature range general is 59 – 95°F (15 – 35°C). Full working temperatures must be higher than 32°F (O°C) and less than 133°F (45°C). Charging the battery under 32°F (0°C) will potentially injury it.
What are the advisable charge controller/inverter settings?
We highly suggest setting the Bulk/Absorb voltage to *14.0V* for a 12V system (*28.0V* for 24V system, *56.0V* for 48V), float voltage of 13.8V (27.6V for 24V, 55.2V for 48V). Higher settings will cut back the *life* of the batteries. For the inverter low voltage cut-off we strongly recommend 12.0V *or increased* (24.0V, for 24V techniques, 48.0V for 48V methods). Limit the length of the take up voltage interval to 2 minutes if the charger is greater than 100A, otherwise set to five minutes.
Are there any concerns when wiring the batteries in parallel?
Yes – for the HLX sequence batteries, the utmost configuration is 4 parallel strings of 4 sequence batteries (16). In addition, when adding one other parallel row of batteries to an existing one, it is very important maintain all parallel collection strings within 0.2V of one another. Before adding a new row of batteries to an existing one, charge all batteries to 100% first.
For the CHLX series batteries, a most of 4 batteries can be used in series or parallel, but NOT both. The CHLX are programmed so that when they’re in parallel or series if one gets chilly enough to start heating, all the CHLX in sequence or parallel will begin heating. This is to forestall broadly different energy draws and states of charge within the battery financial institution when some are heating and cannot charge, whereas others are heat sufficient to charge. As the communication between the CHLX occurs by the facility cables, if linked this way, this communication can not happen.
Can I combine and match models or brands?
No – this isn’t good follow with any battery financial institution.
Should I do an equalization charge on the batteries?
No- much like AGM batteries, an equalization charge could harm them by overcharging them.
Are the batteries shipped fully charged, or do I have to charge them?
No – delivery pointers don’t allow deep cycle batteries to be fully charged during cargo. **Before you put the batteries into operation they have to ALL be charged to exactly the same voltage (select a voltage between 14.0-14.4, V but ensure that they’re *ALL* the identical). This will ensure you begin with a fair charge across the battery financial institution. Suggested battery charger (cables not included with this charger however can be found – use item code ALTCC-6AWG-60RB). We do NOT counsel utilizing the Iota IQ-LIFE PO Smart Charger accent to be used with KiloVault batteries because the charge voltage is too high.
Can I do a relentless trickle charge on the batteries?
Storing the batteries with a relentless small trickle charge just isn’t advisable. Unlike lead-acid batteries, lithium iron phosphate batteries self-consume energy at such a low fee (0.020 amps or about 6 Watt-hours/day), the battery might be easily over-charged if put on a trickle charger. Over-charging the battery triggers the over-charge protection – shutting it down till the voltage goes down sufficient by itself. Once that happens the trickle charger would shortly elevate the voltage up too high as soon as once more. As a end result, the fixed biking of this circuitry will shorten the lifetime of the complete battery.
Is it unhealthy to overcharge or over-discharge the battery?
Yes, it will lower the lifetime of the battery. It’s really useful to by no means discharge or charge the battery to the purpose where it has to shut down to protect itself.

Customer Reviews
Killavolt Collect Batteries – I have been operating my new system with the KiloVault 3600 HLX for 2 weeks and it works incredible. I’ve watched it put out 168 amps with no issue and only a couple tenths drop in voltage while doing it and then instantly returns to the normal 13. 3 volts.
I’ve seen it charge very quickly at 68 amps from my solar array. The only issue I’ve had is that the BMS will put this battery on standby when my PV input matches the load on the battery… the complete system “pauses” causing the inverter to close off, the charge controller goes to rest, or to alarm and the 12-volt system goes lifeless for a few seconds… Be suggested the battery can go on standby…
